Amazon recommended this book and I'm delighted they did. Thoroughly enjoyed The Soul Summoner and immediately upon finishing it I purchased The Siren which I just finished which, of course, prompted the purchase of the third book in this series The Angel of Death. Looking forward to getting lost in Sloan's strange world of angels and demons where very little is as it seems. If you enjoy the paranormal you're going to love these books and the wonderful, intriguing characters whose lives intertwine in ways you can't imagine...with twists, action, romance and laughter. Read the first one and you'll be hooked!Nice job Elicia Hyder.

The Siren The Soul Summoner Book 2 edition by Elicia Hyder Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
The Siren was a page-turner for sure. I am ready to throw myself into the world of The Detective, book 3 in The Soul Summoner series.
The story takes place in present time and there is enough explanation to read it without the first book, but I wouldn't want to miss it if I were you! Excellent writing. The story flows beautifully with enough angel and fallen angel interaction with seramortas to keep you on your toes.
Enjoy!!
I started this series with The Detective, then The Soul Summoner, and with each I could see the potential for EH to grow. I was not wrong. As she herself has said, EH writes curious books. They are also candid, winsome, funny and a bit poignant. She spins a good yarn.
Humans & angels now populate The Siren, and don't forget the hot guys. The pace doesn't sit on its butt and the way EH has with words is refreshing. Definitely an author to put on your go-to list.
This book has a lot going on and most of it is very good. But Sloan is getting to be a bit of an emotional basket case with a tinge of immaturity layered over everything. Strangely that doesn't really detract from the story. She's got her two boy toys, Warren and Nate, to keep an eye on her. The rivalry between those two is rather humorous. Finally Sloan and Warren find out a bit more about their backgrounds and their heritage. Cute story...
(1,5 stars) I loved Book 1 in this series. I was disappointed with book 2. Book 1 kept me guessing AND offered humor and friendship too. I enjoyed the characters in book 1. This book turned too dark, and I found myself skimming ahead. In Book 2, the 3 main characters just felt "sad" in their love triangle, and I did NOT enjoy this part of the story line at all. Anyway, I won't be buying the rest of the series. I thought i found another good author, but I need some light and humor within the story of good/evil.
I am not great at writing reviews. I normally don't do them but this series has me hooked and I wanted to let other readers like me to know Elicia Hyder is worth adding to your author list. I am always looking for book series because I love to know my characters and keep reading about their lives. I am also a fan of the supernatural or sci-fi fantasy type genre. This book series has just the right amout of supernatural and natural to keep it exciting but not over the top. I love the connection between Sloan and Warren and Nate. This triangle is exciting and stressful at the same time. I love what is going on with those three. My only warning about this book is the end has a cliff hanger that will drive you nuts in this world of binge watching series. Elicia, I sure hope you are more prolific than many of my authors because waiting to read the next installment is going to kill me.
The first book was very good. It's focus was on the story, the characters, the action, suspense and mystery.
....and it had a touch of romance.
This book was one big sappy, ongoing, drawn out romance overload that happened to have a side story that had a little focus on one additional supernatural character, with brief mention of others.
So many times I felt like screaming at the book,"OK we get it! They are sooooooo in looooooove they can't pass gass without smooching and cooing at each other, can we get on with the story please?"
The author is very skilled, and I'm really hoping the rest of the series follows more like the the original, than it did with this one. I'd say 10% to maybe 15% of "The Siren" was story, the rest was romance and obsession.
Sloan Jordan's would-have-been murderer has one victim extra; Rachel Smith is still alive. According to Sloan and Warren, both of whom can see souls, Rachel should be dead. But surveillance evidence contradicts their theory, and then curiosity stirs. Could she be like them--born with the gift, too? Maybe this elusive woman, who appears to have struck a fountain of youth, may have the answers to questions Sloan has been seeking since childhood.
(I received this Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) in exchange for an honest review. Plus, spoiler-free.)
In this book, I learned how to make scrambled eggs and shoot a gun, and a bit about military deployment callbacks and the Catholic religion all while laughing my head off, crying my eyes out, and yelling at the characters to get their act together! XD
The Siren kept a crime-drama feel while delving into Sloan's past and swaddling romantic comedy. With hilarious dialogue, complicated characters, paranormal kick-ass action, a blend of sexual tension, and stuff that hits you in the feels, book two is definitely worth the read! Between the current Soul Summoner volumes released, this was my favorite! This can be read as a "stand-alone," but I encourage you to continue the series.
