I was disappointed when I started this book. I thought that it was a continuation of Nell and Colt's story. Instead it's the story of Jason and Becca with a wee bit of Nell and Colt thrown in. Don't get me wrong; I like Becca and I love Jason, but I wanted more of Nell and Colt. Hint, hint Jasinda Wilder. It was interesting to me that Kyle's death was more painful to read about in this book than in the first. Maybe because we got to hurt with Jason while Nell closed us out. Jason makes this book worth reading all on his own. This is a love story through and through. It was refreshing that the couple stayed in love. Their lives were touched by abuse, loss, and tragedy, but there were never obstacles to their feelings for one another. No misunderstandings, no break-ups. It was nice to read a book where a couple faced life together. The sex scenes were too much of the focus at times, although again it was a nice twist that so much of the lust was fueled by the female.
Ben was a heartbreaking storyline, although it had a couple flaws. Nell's disappearance at a crucial time for her best friend was unacceptable. And we never found out what Kate decided. Still we got to see once again how all of our lives are woven together. Pain is shared and decisions once made have the power to destroy others.
Finally, the ending of the book was my favorite part. More, more Nell and Colt please!

Falling Into Us The Falling Series Book 2 edition by Jasinda Wilder Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I love love LOVED this book. Possibly even more than I adored the first book in the series, and that's definitely saying something.
I love the character development in Jasinda's books. I love the characters. Jason...Jason was strong and caring and protective and loving. I just loved him. He wasn't perfect, but he was SO great. Becca was such a strong and relatable character as well. She had difficulties to overcome, and she did so with grace and strength. Together, Jason and Becca were magic. It was fantastic getting to revisit Colton and Nell as well. Reading the end of this book felt like such a full circle moment. Just so great.
I loved the pace of this story...not too fast, not too slow, skipping some parts so we could get a complete picture of the relationship development, but filling us in on everything we needed to know. I absolutely love getting to journey with Jasinda's characters through not just days or months but years of their lives. I feel like I know them. I feel like I lived in their world. And now that the book is finished, I feel sad that I'm not living in that world anymore. Such fantastic story-telling. Such awesome characterization. Such talent for evoking emotion. I just loved it.
I love how the characters in Jasinda's stories stick together and help, nay, LOVE each other through all of the trials of life. In so many stories, things get tough and people break up, eventually finding their way back to each other, but not in this story. It's so gratifying to experience a realistic story and see that things can be okay even if they're not perfect.
As the book states, "You...you've come through s-so much, and you've found your happiness. You've found your way to okay."
I loved all the characters in this series and I would have given it 5 stars except the same old graphic sex scenes in every one of the books (and more than one time per book) just gets old. I found myself skipping ahead to when those scenes were over. I'm not a prude by any means, but using the same basic template for each character's sex stories was over the top and not necessary to the story. Just my opinion. Otherwise I loved all the books in the series and how each of them related to the other and reappeared in each story too!
Book 2 is another slam dunk. I couldn't get to this book fast enough when I finished the first book, "Falling into You". I loved that book. (SIDE NOTE You definitely need to read "Falling Into You" first to get the full effect of this book). I really fell for that book. I wanted more of those characters. This book runs parallel to the first book with the story of different characters. They are the best friends of the characters from book 1. So, while some of the story crosses over, just like in real life, these characters experience the events differently; their take-away is different. This is not a continuation of the first book, and it is not more of those characters. So be prepared. This book is completely different. And while I never thought I would be able to say this after finishing "Falling Into You", I like this book more. Good grief, I didn't think that was possible. But, at least for me, the POV of these two characters was more interesting. You see their growth so much more.
Again, this book has joy and laughter and love. It also has tragedy, loss and pain. Anyone who has had to sit on the sideline and watch as a friend or family member struggles to pick the pieces of their life up and felt helpless to make it easier can identify with the characters in this book. Real, raw, gut-checking reality hits you at every corner. When do you love them enough to step in? When do you love them enough to step back? And how do you know which is which at 18 years old. Everyone has been there.
And then deal with your own personal tragedy and demons...How do you let someone in when all you want to do is shut-down. How do you trust your heart to heal? When you keep pushing those around you away and they keep coming back, at what point do you quick getting pissed off and finally let them help? All of that is right there in this book.
Real characters living real life is what appeal to me in books. When I can relate it to my own experience, or I can see it as a possibility of something that could actually happen. Ms. Wilder does a remarkable job of making this real.
These characters deal with so much more than the characters in the first book. And they grow. In the end, this is a story about getting to the other side of tremendous, life-altering events. You are never quite the same. But you do go on.
One of the things that stands out in this book to me is the hero, Jason. At a young age, to be able to see past what Becca sees as her fatal flaw, not ever being bothered by it at all, is a huge testament to his overall character. The fact that Ms. Wilder wrote a character with a real-life issue is wonderful. The fact that she took a teenage boy and gave him the type of personality that sex and locker-room jokes about the girl and her flaw was so beneath him, is a tremendous statement to what kind of writer, and dare I say person, Ms. Wilder must be.
REAL PAGE NUMBERS!!! Thank you for that.
If you have the chance, get the audiobook too. Listen and read along with the narrators. They are WONDERFUL!! PERFECT choices for the voices of this book. I would have loved this book without the audiobook; however, the audiobook experience with this book made this book come to life and become a part of me. For $1.99, it's worth a try. I can almost guarantee even if listening along is not your thing, you will not be disappointed.
This book is a book that will stick with you for a long time. I will not soon forget it. And neither will you. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
